Cowbell Tees is a t-shirt company I started several years back, producing pop culture tees based on my personal tastes in movies and music. I’ve since designed, had printed, and shipped hundreds of shirts to abiding customers around the globe.
The first incarnation of the website was set up using basic PayPal buttons on product pages, without a full shopping cart solution or inventory system to speak of. I rebuilt the site from the ground up, using the WordPress content management system with a responsive WooCommerce shop setup.
This allows me to completely track inventory by size and quantity, easily offer sales & markdowns, add featured & related products, as well as item photos & descriptions. The full shopping cart allows for unique discount codes, customized shipping rates, and the option of a customer account or guest checkout through PayPal.
I’ve also integrated a MailChimp mailing list signup, allowing subscribers to easily submit their email address to receive product updates and discount codes through my newsletter.
GRAPHIC INSPIRATION
My first t-shirt designs were inspired by the cult classic The Big Lebowski. Lennon-esque sketches of the Dude & Walter, photos of blank cassettes, and abiding typography comprised the first graphics set. I then branched out to feature other endlessly watchable films such as Almost Famous and Dazed and Confused. In the end, it comes back to the almighty More Cowbell sketch, and the iconic cowbell logo that brands all my endeavours.
